No laughing matter...

Okay, I'll admit it. I set myself up for this. Yes, folks, I sent something to Mrs. Giggles for a review.

She gave me a 71 for The Heart of a Hunter and I had hoped to hit the mid-sixties, so the score didn't bother me. The comparisons to Dara Joy did. I've only read one of her books, and I liked it. But it seemed like Mrs. G. thought my only goal in writing HOAH was to be like another writer. Oh well, I'll get over it. It was only the second thing I ever had e-pubbed so I know I've got some growing to do as an author. And I'm planning to send more stuff to her - proof of my masochistic streak.

*sigh*

Someone told me that an author came up with an idea for a vampire who moved to Alaska because it is dark in the winter 20 years ago - Elizabeth Ann Scarborough. I'm wondering if someone who has read that will think I was "emulating" in Never A Sunset. I had no idea that other book existed. I can see your point... you write your own stories.

The Giggler terrifies me. I am scared beyond doodoo to let her see my story. I will though, because I'am a masochist myself.

Thumbs up woman.

Sorry to hear that Mrs. Giggles wasn't nice with you. {{{HUGS}}} Don't worry what counts is the readers and their opinion.

I think romance writers are putting too much importance into the reviews of someone who hides behind a nickname. It's just a personal outtake on a story.

Bri - Oh, I can't wait to have her review one of my stories. *big evil grin* I can see her review now. "This is the biggest piece of crap I've ever read. I'd give it a negative number if I could. No wonder the writer hides behind a pen name. The only funny thing in this book is the author's pen name - Velvet Nipple."

Annalee, I'm starting to think there's so much out there that we can't help but come up with similar plots unintentionally. It's just depressing to have someone bring that to an author's attention in a public forum :(

Hi Briana - maybe I'll dress up like her for Halloween. She's so scary LOL! They say even poo-pooed books see a burst in sales from being on her site.

Silma, you're a trip! Actually 'Velvet Nipple' would make a cool Halloween costume, too. Then again, a chicken suit would suit you just fine - tee hee! Thanks for your supportive words :)

Thanks for dropping by, Dadio! You made a good point. I think, however, that I'm slowly veering away from sci-fi. We'll see...

At least she gave you a very good score. She's notorious for giving HORRID scores and then rip the stories apart.

Now that the sting has worn off, I think 71 was a decent score. Sorry I whined about it. I just sent CHELLA's QUEST to her. Keep your fingers crossed :)
